The Riches and St. George

A couple of weeks ago our friends Ryan and Courtney came to visit from LA. As always, it was great to spend some long overdue time with them. Our time was mostly filled with basketball watching, including the Jazz v Celtics game:

Court's dad is the manager of CBS and got us some amazing floor seats... for the wrong game :( So, he got us these last minute ones. Notice the wall behind us - we were literally on the very top row (hey, beggars can't be choosers).

Last weekend we went down to St. George to spend some time with Kurt's family. It was so much fun, but as usual I failed miserably at picture-taking. I did however get pictures of this little baby turtle. Kurt's sister's neighbor has desert turtles and one of their eggs hatched into this little guy:

Is he not the cutest thing you have ever seen?

Gerry made the trip with us and was a huge hit with the kids. He did really well, though he did sneak attack every child with food that he could find.

You can't tell by the picture but Janet (left) and Gerry are covered in ranch dressing. Gerry could not resist trying to grab it out of her hands.

March Madness and a sick puppy

We are loving March Madness. Though I have to admit, going to work is not easy with all these games on. I took half of Thursday off and Kurt sluffed school so we could watch the BYU game. Oh, and we took Gerry to the groomer:
so skinny!
Poor Ger was up coughing all night though. His kennel cough came back so Kurt took him to the vet on Friday. He is on meds now and is feeling better, but Friday night he was one sick pup:

Introducing Gerald Reber

We had been thinking about a dog for a while now, and we finally caved. Gerry is a part Schnauzer part Poodle Mutt, and is just under a year old. We picked him up from the Humane Society yesterday. That is a place that I don't recommend going to unless you know just what you want or are willing to bring 40 dogs home with you. I honestly walked in and immediately started bawling. The walls are lined with cages filled with dogs with big sad eyes. They all want to come home with you so bad. And when you get close, they jump up and start wagging their tail, sure that it is their turn. It is making me want to start crying again.

He is not trained in any way, so I am sure that we have our work cut out for us; however, our first night with him went surprisingly well. No accidents, no whining, and no barking.

We gave him a bath last night, which was so funny. Poor thing looked like a pink skeleton. We thought that maybe we traumatized him, but later that night he tried to jump in the shower with Kurt. And while we were brushing our teeth, he jumped in the tub and laid down.

I think once we teach him to sit, to stay, and to stop walking in circles around me on our walks he'll be perfect.

Welcome to the family Gerry.
