Weekend Events

Friday evening Kurt and I drove down to Spanish Fork for a good old fashioned pig roast. Kurt's friend Ethan invited a bunch of people to his ranch to eat the pig that they had shot the night before. It had been cooking in the ground all day. Unfortunately I am unable to enjoy meat when the animals head is set up next to it with a bullet hole between the eyes. It was an interesting experience though :-)

We spent most of Saturday on a hike up Milcreek with my parents. We hiked to the top of Mount Aire. It was really fun, and we definately got a good work out in. Just check out how tired it made Nibbies. Anyway, that night we had some friends over for dinner and a little backyard volleyball. I think we were all a little inspired by the olympics.

Home Alone

So Kurt is in Kansas visiting his sister for 6 days, which makes me home alone. This is the first time that Kurt and I have spent a night apart since we've been married, and it is kind of weird. I do have to say that I have been really productive while he has been gone, but I get pretty lonely without him. He gets back in a couple days, and I can't wait!

On Friday I went down town to watch my brother race in Stage 3 of the Tour of Utah, a 330 mile long, five-day race, with over 30,000 feet of climbing. Racers get cut during each stage, but Alex is still going! - he's kind of a big deal.

Go Alex!

After the race I drove up to Midway for a girls night at Aimee's Dad's cabin. It was really fun to get in some girl time. Then on Saturday morning a few of us went on a ride. Aimee kicked butt, and sent us up some treacherous climbs. We got back after about 26 miles, and I was beat. I have no idea how these Tour of Utah boys can do it.

I will let you know of any other events that occur while I am without a hubby - I have the time to blog them now.

Elko is the place to be

Place - Elko, NV
Date - August 1 - 3, 2008

Who knew that Elko, NV could be such a fun place? It certainly doesn't hurt when there are Mortensen's there. We made a quick little visit to see Lynsie and Joey, and soon realised that the trip was going to be far to short. We had so much fun, and packed in as much as we could in the short time that we were there. Our visit came complete with a free political action dinner, tennis, swimming, soccer, fajitas and games - all in a day and a half.

This is the Elko City pool. That's right, it even has slides! Utah doesn't know how to have the kind of fun that Elko does. And as you can see from the above and below pictures, the boys got their bonding time in.

This is them whispering to eachother.

The picture on the left is of the trivia king and the right is the result of a full day of fun in the sun.

We realised over the weekend that Lynsie and I have been friends for more than half of our lives!

Thanks guys for a great weekend, we miss you already!

Manny being Manny

Although his debut wasn't the Hollywood ending many hoped, the addition of Manny Ramirez (traded for Andy LaRoche and a gift certificate to Red Robin in a three way deal with the Red Sox and Pirates which materialized just before the deadline) has brought new hope to Chavez Ravine and in our house. It's nice to see him in Dodger blue.

Baby News - NOT FROM US!

  • Caitlin and Dan - My good friends the Creers just had their first! He is an adorable little boy with a birthday of 7/30/2008. I can't wait to meet the little guy. I can't imagine cuter parents than Caitlin and Dan. Congrats!
  • Courtney and Ryan - It's a boy! Ryan and Court just found out that the little thing in her belly is a little boy. He is scheduled for arrival on 12/22/2008. We are so excited for them - he is going to be one heck of a LA Dodger. Congrats!
  • Allison and Aaron - Kurt's sister just found out that she is having a boy.....and a girl! Yep, she signed up for one and is getting two. They already have the two cutest little kids, and we can't wait for them to double it. Congrats!
